If you are from the eastern part of the USA, you might have realised that it is way more expensive on average, than the west. Why? We will discover the answer to this question in the article below.
The simple answer to the question above is: legalise it and the price falls.
*Green = $0-$300/oz.; Orange = $300-$400/oz.; Red = $400+/oz.;
The data is from www.priceofweed.com, a website which enables users to anonymously submit the price of marijuana that they have purchased – it doesn’t matter if it was from a dispensary or from a local dealer.
From the picture above, we can see that the 4 states that have legalised marijuana completely, offer on average an ounce of weed for under $300, while the average for the country is $324.
With not much of a surprise, we can see that weed is actually the cheapest in a state where the act of smoking the herb is legal – Oregon, with a price of an ounce is $204, that’s pretty damn cheap if you ask me. On the other hand, the most expensive ounce of cannabis that you will get is in North Dakota, where you will end up paying about $387 for an ounce!
Washington D.C. legalised the plant in March for recreational use. The problem is that it is still illegal to sell marijuana there, this is why the price is higher, when compared to other states where selling it, is not a criminal offence – $346.
