What you will need:

Cannabis – depends on how much butter you want, but about 15 grams

Butter – 1 stick, aka half a cup, aka 113 grams, aka 4 ounces.

Saucepan

Heat proof bowl

Step I:

You will need to Decarboxylate your weed. It is not as hard as it sounds. This is not the place to explain the exact science behind it, but you will need to put your weed in the oven. Spread it evenly on a backing sheet and keep it in the oven at 240 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes. This will not burn your weed, but it will do some sciency stuff that will allow you to extract the THC from the plant matter.

Step II:

Put about a liter of water in a pan and bring to boil. You can then put your butter in the pan and let it melt. In this recipe 1 stick of butter and 15g of weed are used, but fell free to change that, it should be fine as long as you remain proportional.

Step III:

Put your baked weed in the water. It should be floating about 3-4cm from the bottom. This ensures that your weed will not burn in the pan. This is the lengthiest part of the entire process. You should turn down the heat to low. It should take about 3 hours for your weed it to be done, but do regularly check on your cannabutter and stir occasionally.

Step IV:

Put a cheese cloth over your heat proof bowl. Pour the cannabutter carefully over the bowl. Squeeze out all of the liquid into the bowl. Now you should be left with a liquidy, warm cannabutter in a bowl and all of the plant matter in the cheese cloth.

Step V:

Cover the bowl and place it in the fridge. It will take a couple of hours until the butter is fully hardened. Once it is it will also separate from the water, discard the remaining water and you should be left with just, your very own cannabutter.
